Your wedding outfit is one of the most important choices you will make, and it is worth taking your time. These are the questions to ask before you decide.
1. Which event is it for?
Brides often wear different outfits for the nikkah, the baraat and the walima, each with its own style. A heavy, richly embroidered piece suits the main ceremony, while lighter pastel shades suit a reception. Decide which event you are shopping for first.
2. Colour
Red is the traditional choice, but many brides now choose emerald, deep pink, ivory, gold or blush. Think about your skin tone, your jewellery and your venue, and how the colour will look in photographs as well as in person.
3. Fabric and embroidery
Bridal outfits often use chiffon, organza, raw silk or net with detailed hand embellishment, which gives a luxurious look but can be heavy. Check the description for what is included and think about how long you will be wearing it.
4. Comfort
You will be wearing your outfit for many hours, sitting, standing and posing for photographs. Choose something you can move in, and try it on with your shoes and jewellery before the day if you can.
5. Fit and timing
Bridal pieces need time for any alterations, so order well ahead of your date. Measure carefully with our size guide, or choose the Unstitched option and have the outfit tailored to you. Allow time for delivery as well, especially if you are ordering from abroad.
