One of the first choices you make with a Pakistani suit is whether to buy it readymade or unstitched. Both are the same beautiful design; the difference is who does the tailoring. This guide explains each option and how to be sure of your size before you order.
Readymade: stitched and ready to wear
Readymade suits arrive stitched, in sizes from XS to XL. There is no tailor to wait for, so they are ideal when you need an outfit for an event soon. The trade-off is that you are choosing from set sizes, which makes measuring properly the most important step.
Unstitched: tailored to you
An unstitched suit is supplied as uncut fabric, which you take to your own tailor. It is the best choice if you already have a tailor you trust, want a particular neckline or sleeve, or sit between sizes. On most of our styles you will see an Unstitched option next to the sizes, and it is often priced lower than the stitched version because the tailoring is not included. The price shown updates as soon as you choose a size.
How to measure yourself
Asian sizing rarely matches UK high-street sizing, so ignore the size you usually buy. Take these measurements in inches, over light clothing, with a soft tape measure:
- Chest: around the fullest part, keeping the tape level under the arms.
- Waist: at the narrowest point, with the tape comfortably loose.
- Hip: around the fullest part, a little below the waist.
- Length: from the shoulder to where you would like the shirt to end.
Read the size guide
Every readymade style links to our size guide, which lists shirt, maxi and trouser measurements for each size, in inches. Compare your numbers with the chart rather than with the size label. If you fall between two sizes, choose the larger one: a kameez that is slightly roomy hangs well, while one that pulls across the chest never sits right.
